Peru Missions Trip Update

¡ Hola! ¿Cómo está usted?

As you can see, I am working on my Spanish for my upcoming Missions Trip to Peru this summer. I am trying to remember my high school Spanish!  I thank those of you that are partnering in praying for me and the whole team as we prepare for this exciting opportunity! I want to give you an update in this newletter..

There are about 300 people who have signed up for this trip - all ages - and each have signed up for a particular ministry team...examples are puppets, music teams, praise choral groups, medical team & evangelism team.  Since the last time I wrote to you, I have signed up for the Evangelism Team which will be mingling with the crowds much of the time. The plane reservatiions have been hard to nail down because of the constant rise in fuel costs. I am getting my series of shots, so I am moving along.

There have been regular training times to prepare for the trip.  May 4th we had training on evangelism, focusing on two questions that I thought were interesting::

1. Have you come to a place in your spiritual life where you can say you know
for certain that if you were to die today you would go to heaven?

2. Suppose that you were to die today and stand before God and He were to say
to you, "Why should I let you into my heaven?" what would you say?

Currently I am working at memorizing John 3:16 in Spanish::

16 »Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo, que dio a su Hijo *unigénito, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna.

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Here is my website that I hope I can update with information and pictures while I am in Peru.   You can visit it at  Peru Update

Thank you for reading & praying!  I will be sending other regular updates as the time progresses.

Prayer Requests
  • Many of my during the year committments have finished for the summer, and I want to commit more time in prayer in preparation specifically for this trip. Please pray that I am more diliberate in setting aside time to pray for the Peru Missions Trip myself and that I consider more regular fasting.
  •  Please pray that I become more comfortable with the EvangeCube and the Rope Illustration as a means to share the Gospel.
  •  I want to be culturally sensitive and gracious and respectful with the Peruvian people. Pray that my eyes are opened to this and that I can represent a humble servant of God.
